Billion Ton Study: What can be Learned about Bioenergy Sustainability? Workshop Report

An informal workshop focused on the implications of the US Billion Ton Update1 for understanding bioenergy sustainability was held at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee 28-30 September 2011. The workshop was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Biomass Program and the Center for BioEnergy
Sustainability (CBES) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The workshop included researchers from the US Department of Energy and its national laboratories, the US Department of Agriculture, the US Environmental Protection Agency, academic institutions, and private industry.
