About Beto

The Bioenergy Technologies Office

The Bioenergy Technologies Office works with a broad spectrum of government, industrial, academic, agricultural, and nonprofit partners across the United States to develop commercially viable, high-performance biofuels, bioproducts, and biopower made from renewable United States biomass resources. BETO provides technical input to standards development but does not endorse any specific standard. BETO encourages interested parties to learn more about standards and their potential costs and benefits and shares information as it becomes available from BETO partners.

BETO Research Relevant to Standards

The USDOE Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) has made technical contributions to several national and international activities relevant to sustainability assessment and standards including: ISO, CSBP (BMAS), ANSI/ASTM, SE Forest systems/FIA data analysis, global voluntary sustainability standards such as RSB, and the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) indicators and outreach programs on bioenergy.
